Employment Practices

Your business has employed an administrative assistant, now 61 years old, for seven years. She has been, at best, a marginal performer over the years, though a pleasant individual and generally well liked. Her supervisor has been less than diligent in completing her annual performance reviews, and these show her to be an adequate worker with no mention of her performance issues. Business has slowed down, and you need to make some cuts.  You make the unpleasant choice to terminate her, and subsequently receive in the mail a complaint for wrongful discharge due to age and gender discrimination.
